FrameMaker 6: beyond the basics by Lisa Jahred (New Riders) review

It is no exaggeration to state that this is the most useless book in my reference library. I have referred to it several times. It may have helped me once, but that is being charitable. It does not go beyond the basics, as it promises to do. It has a lot of words, but it doesn’t say much. In all cases, I was able to solve my problems with FrameMaker either by consulting online help and trying a lot of different things, gleaning some information from FrameMaker 6.0: Classroom in a Book, or maybe Googling my problem and finding something on line if I was lucky.

Don’t waste your money, or more importantly your time with this book. The money would be better spent going out for a coffee with friends and relaxing a bit.

I still have the book because I hate to throw things away. I’d give it away, but that would hardly be much of a favour to whoever I have it to. I guess I’ll throw it in the recycling bin or something.

I was warned. When I bought the book, the review on Amazon warned me that it was a useless book. There just wasn’t much else so I figured this would be better than nothing. It isn’t.
